Our commitment to the environment extends beyond our immediate operations. We actively encourage our clients, partners and associates to adopt more sustainable practices, enhancing value for all.

As part of our sustainability strategy, we’ve partnered with The Green Web Foundation and encourage our hosting providers to register with the initiative. This ambitious foundation is working towards a fossil-free and sustainable internet by 2030, offering companies resources to make their digital activities greener. We have also developed a sustainability audit to help our clients identify changes that our clients can implement to reduce their digital footprints.

Caring for the environment is reflected in our volunteer efforts. We have collaborated with Woodland Creations to plant trees and support their mission to double the number of trees and woodland areas in the city. Additionally, our work with the Plant Co-operative CIC in Manchester has helped transform neglected urban spaces into more biodiverse gardens, connecting communities with nature. We also use renewable energy sources where possible and are mindful of our water consumption.

Encouraging change outside of our ecosystem

In response to these challenges, we are taking steps to minimising our carbon footprint across every level. We employ responsible operating practices, including extensive monitoring of CO2 emissions and e-waste, ensuring our business activities align with environmental best practices.

Implementing changes, big and small, can make all the difference. From our office spaces to product purchasing, IDHL is committed to pursuing our sustainability strategy wherever applicable. In 2024, we are proud to have driven a 54.7% reduction in our Scope 1 emissions and a 71.5% reduction in Scope 2 emissions. Whilst our Scope 3 emissions rose due to increased business travel, our overall net emissions remained static and has been independently audited. Looking towards 2030, our goal is to have zero Scope 1 & 2 emissions and achieve a 30% reduction in our Scope 3 emissions.

The average carbon footprint of a UK office building is roughly 17kg of CO2 emissions annually per sqm for a typical air-conditioned office building. In 2024, we invested heavily in our offices in Leeds and Manchester, ensuring our workplaces not only meet the highest environmental standards but offers state-of-the-art environments to support our hybrid working approach.

While we embrace remote work, we also value the irreplaceable nature of in-person interactions for effective stakeholder engagement and team collaboration. To offset energy usage, we have streamlined our product sourcing, installed recycling bins in every office and removed the use of single-use plastics by purchasing water bottles for our employees. Local suppliers support our office improvements, maintenance and provide refreshments for workshops and events.

We also use renewable energy sources where possible and are mindful of our water consumption. Additionally, we are ISO14046 certified, meaning we meet the international standard for organisation conduct and water footprint assessment. We are in a prime position to assess, manage and reduce our water use, and demonstrate our commitment to sustainability.

Technological advancements often result in the disposal of outdated devices, such as old laptops, PCs, and other electronics that are no longer compatible or efficient.
